In line with the MLA-NG mandate of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in promoting professional excellence, access to information and quality service delivery by the Medical Information Professionals. The MLA is organizing a national workshop on the theme The place of Medical Information Professionals in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”. The workshop is designed to equip participants with the professional skill in assisting Medical Professionals to achieving SDGs.

The Federal University Birnin Kebbi, was established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in February, 2013. It is located in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, Nigeria.

The Position
The University Librarian is one of the Principal Officers of the University.
He or She is the head of the University Library.
The University Librarian is responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the overall administration of the University Library.
Qualifications
Candidate for the post shall:
Possess a good honours degree not below second class Lower Division in Library Science/ Library Information Science and a Ph.D degree in Library Science, Library Information Science, computer Science Education or Social Sciences from recognized University/Universities.
Minimum of fifteen (15) years experience in Library in an institution of higher learning at least five (5) of which must be in a University Library.
Hold the rank of a Deputy University Librarian in the University.
Be a registered member of the Library Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN);
Have published papers in professionally refereed journals;
Be computer literate and proficient in relevant computer applications
Note: People who are over sixty (60) years of age as at the date of this publication are not eligible to apply Also, retired public servants who had put in pensionable years of service before their retirement/withdrawal of service, are not eligible to apply.
Salary and Conditions of Service
The Salary and conditions of service for the post shall be as obtainable for the post of University Librarian in Nigerian Federal Universities and as may be determined from time to time by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Council of the University.

Job Description
The University Librarian shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University Library and as the Coordinator of all Library services In the University.
The University Librarian, as a Principal Officer of the University is expected to participate In the total life of the University which requires living in Oyo town.
Qualifications
The candidate must possess a good honours degree and a Masters degree in Library Science or Information Science and be sufficiently familiar with Computer applications to Library operations. Possession of a Doctorate degree will be an added advantage.
The candidate should not be more than 55 years old by 1st October 2016.
Experience:
The candidate must have at least 15 years postgraduate experience, 10 of which must be in Senior Management position In the University or comparable institution and be well published in recognized and reputable journals.
Terms and Conditions of Service
The University Librarian shall hold office for five years single term. The remuneration and other conditions of service are as may determined from time to time by the Governing Council.
