Journal of Health Information and Librarianship (ISSN: 2408-6614)

The Journal of Health Information and Librarianship is the official journal of the Medical Library Association of Nigeria.

The Editorial Board of the journal is calling for high quality empirical reports, theoretical papers, and reviews. All submissions must be original manuscripts not submitted for publication in another journal. All articles submitted must be directly relevant to medical librarianship and health information dissemination with implications for the practice of the profession.

Papers will be accepted on the following themes:

Medical librarianship

Medical informatics

Health information

Consumer health information services

Patient education, Health education etc.

We have hosted our website for the journal and all published issues will soon be uploaded.

Format for submission

Manuscripts should be typed on A4 sheets using MS word (Times new Roman, 12 points, double-spaced). The title, author's full name, institutional affiliation, position phone number and e-mail address should appear on the first page.

Submissions should include an informative abstracts of not more than 200 words and not less than four keywords. Tables and graphs should be included in the body of the work. The APA (Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association) referencing format should be used throughout the manuscript. All submissions will be peer reviewed.

·         A candidate for this post should possess a good first degree plus Ph.D in Library and Information Science or any other related discipline not less than ten (10) years of professional and research experience since becoming Librarian II in a University out of which three (3) years must have been spent on Reader Librarian Cadre and must be registered with Librarians Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN).

·   A strong proof of continuing research with appreciable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals published both locally and internationally is required.

CONUASS 7 (N2,485,099.00 - N3,209,140.00) per annum.

• A candidate for this post should normally possess a good first degree plus a Masters degree in Library and Information Science or any other related disciplines and registerable for a Ph.D. programme.

Salary Range
CONUASS 2 (N794,260.00 - N957,402.00) per annum.

As contained in the approved conditions governing service of Senior Staff of the University.

• The Polytechnic Librarian shall be responsible to the Rector for the provision of library services in the Polytechnic.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for Library Services of the Polytechnic.

• In attendance at Governing Council meeting.
• Member, Academic Board.
• Member, Management Committee.
• Member Junior Staff Appointments, Promotions and Disciplinary Committee.
• Desk Officer on TET fund Library intervention.

Qualifications/Experience

• The applicant must be a holder of MLS in Library Science with eighteen (18) years cognate experience or PhD with fifteen (15) years cognate experience.
• Must provide evidence of membership with the Library Registration Council.
• Must provide evidence of journal publications, conference/seminar papers and book of proceedings.

Terms of Appointment

• The appointment is for an initial period of four (4) years renewable for a second and final term of four (4) years.
• The salary of the Polytechnic Librarian is CONTISS 15.
• An official car
• Sabbatical within Nigeria on completion of tenure provided the officer is not retiring.
