JOB TITLE: LAW LIBRARIAN
An International boutique Law firm based in Abuja is looking at recruiting an experienced Librarian to work in the firm’s library.
Brief Description
Ensures cost effectiveness in all aspects of
library operations. Provides strategic direction and leadership in advancing
the firm’s research and documentation through the adoption of emerging technology
and sound fiscal management. Strengthen communication and information between
the library and other departments/units in the firm, manage the library’s
multi-faceted operations especially the electronic library strategically.
Duties
· Maintains
an organised library of legal reference books, periodicals, legal databases and
reports.
· Researches
complex legal issues for lawyers and legal staff.
· Reviews
the latest publications and softwares from legal content and research companies
suchas LexisNexis and WestLaw.
· Advises
lawyers and legal staff on the best means of performing research for a
particular legal issue.
· Interacts
with external organisation such as other law libraries, publishers, vendors and
other institutions as and when required.
· Coordinates
with and advices other departments on the information needs of staff and
visitors.
·Plan,
designs, develops and implements automated systems for library operations
and/or procedures, including design and maintenance of library web pages.
·Oversees
the creation and maintenance of both digital and print archives; oversees the
collection and processing of documents, which includes scanning, printing,
photocopying etc
·Responsible
for the publicity of the library services as a means of generating revenue for
the firm.
·Performs
other library assignments/job related duties as assigned.
Educational/
General Requirements
· Possess
a degree or equivalent qualification in Library and Information Science from a
recognised institution with at least between 5-10 years relevant working
experience. A diploma or degree in Law will be desirable.
· Be
a registered member of the Librarians' Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN)
and Nigerian Library Association (NLA)
· Be
computer literate and proficient in relevant computer applications;

· Have
strong leadership and communication skills.
· Be
creative, proactive and self- motivated.
·
Have
excellent interpersonal skill.
· Be
in good physical and mental health.
· Ability
to develop a work schedule, set goals, creates / implements actions plans and
monitor progress towards goals.
· Skill
in developing and maintaining effective working relationships.
· Skill
in typing/word processing and use of personal computer/software.
· Ability
to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
