Job Title: University Librarian

Job Description

• The University Librarian is a Principal Officer and the head of the University Library.
• Candidates for the post shall be visionary, have the ability to provide good leadership and command respect and loyalty of staff of the University.
• Candidates must also possess personal integrity and demonstrate transparency in private and public life Overall administration of the University Library, its branches and extension and providing services for the University community.

Duties

• The University Librarian is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University Library and the co-ordination of Library services in the University.
• He / She will be required to administer the University Library System and to develop it to meet the University's increasing needs especially its post-graduate and research programmes. In addition, he or she is responsible for:
• Framing Library policies and making personal contacts and liaising with
• Departments on book requirements as well as giving professional advice on library matters
• Preparing Library budgets
• Establishing policy for Library exchange
• Engaging in matters of common interest for the benefit of readers and users of the Library
• Performing other duties that may be assigned by the Vice-Chancellor

Qualifications
Candidate Must:

• Candidates for the position of University Librarian should possess a minimum of Higher Degree of Masters in Library and Information Science with Fifteen (15) years of experience.
• Possession of a Doctorate Degree will be an added advantage.
• Candidates are also required scholarly publications in reputable journals and must be members of the following:
• Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria
• Nigeria Library Association
• Committee of University Librarians
• Furthermore, candidates are expected to be a computer literate and proficient in relevant computer applications as applicable to the running of a complex and modem University Library.
• Must not be above the age of 50 years

Conditions of Service
The appointment shall be for a single term of five (5) years only and may be extended for a further period of one year Only and no more. The remuneration and other conditions of service are comparable to the post of University Librarian in Nigerian Universities, and as may be determined by the Council and Proprietor from time-to-time.

Job Title: Deputy University Librarian
Location: Nasarawa
Qualifications
 

• Candidates must possess a minimum of masters degree in Library Science/information Management plus a minimum of twelve (12) years post qualification cognate experience.
• Possess leadership qualities and capacity to train/mentor staff at the lower level in research, publishing and demonstrate this with evidence of adequate number of publications in peer- reviewed journals.
• Must be a computer literate and be able to teach information literacy skills at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including the academic staff.
• A Ph.D in Library and Information Science!Information Management plus knowledge of Integrated Library Application Softwares (ILMS - Khona, NGL CDS/ISIS etc.) will be added advantage.

Conditions of Service
The remuneration and conditions of service are compared to the conditions and services of a Federal University, and as may be determined by the Council and the Proprietor from time to time.

Job Title: Senior Librarian
Location: Nasarawa
Qualifications

• Candidates must possess Master Degree in Library and Information Science/Information Management plus six (6) years post qualification cognate experience.
• Candidates must demonstrate aptitude for research with evidence of publications in peer- reviewed journals.
• Candidates must be computer literate and be able to teach information literacy skills at the undergraduate level, Knowledge of Integrated Library Application Softwares (ILMS - Koha, NGL, CDS/ISIS etc.) will be added advantage

Job Title: Librarian I
Location: Nasarawa
Qualifications

• Candidates must possess Master Degree in Library and Information Science/Information Management plus three (3) years post qualification cognate experience.
• Candidates must demonstrate aptitude for research.
• Must be computer literate and be able to teach information literacy skills at the undergraduate level.

Job Title: Librarian II

Qualifications

• Candidates must possess Maters Degree in Library and Information Science; or a good honor First Degree, preferably First or Second Class Upper Division, in Library and International Science plus NYSC, plus three (3) years post qualification cognate experience.
• Must be computer literate and be able to teach information literacy skills at the undergraduate level.
