Job Title: Member Engagement Officer
The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Headquarters is looking for an enthusiastic Member Engagement Officer to join a dynamic team and global project.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities will include engaging IFLA’s association and institutional members in two major new projects and ongoing communication regarding the development and evaluation of the projects. The projects involve the development of a library map of the world and IFLA’s first major membership survey. IFLA’s library map of the world will collect a small set of basic library performance indicators for as many countries as possible. Provided as data and a visual map, this information will be available to support national, regional and global advocacy efforts. The aim of the member survey is to understand what members value in their engagement with IFLA and to help IFLA understand its potential for growth.
This position will work closely with the Manager, Member Services to encourage the participation and engagement of IFLA’s members in these projects and the growth of membership in general.
Location
IFLA Headquarters in The Hague (next to The Hague Central Station) in the Netherlands.
Key Areas of Responsibilities
  • Engage with IFLA’s members and professional units to involve them in relevant activities
  • Engage and encourage IFLA’s association and institutional members and others to contribute country level data on libraries
  • Manage and coordinate a range of data inputs and work with partners on the visualisation of this data as a global asset for the library field
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the member survey
  • Coordinate communications and responses to member enquiries
  • Communicate project outcomes to IFLA’s members and the international library community via relevant media
Qualifications/Skills
  • Excellent written and personal communication skills in English
  • Solid project management skills
  • Advanced computer skills/programs, in particular Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with membership management software
  • Excellent analytical/statistical skills and a good problem solver with a proven track record in troubleshooting
  • Strong ability to build relationships and trust across a global network
  • Experience working effectively with remote, multicultural teams
  • Familiarity with the global library field
  • Proficiency in one of the other official languages of IFLA (Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Russian, Spanish)
  • Some travel will be involved
Salary
Depending on your experience, the gross monthly salary offered will be minimum Eur 3.393 per month, in line with the Collective Agreement of Public Libraries in The Netherlands. You will also receive a holiday allowance (8% of your annual salary), an end of year bonus and enjoy 25 days of holidays per year. You will also participate in IFLA’s group pension scheme.
