Librarian Job@ Nigerian Library Association

The Nigerian Library Association is seeking to employ a suitable qualified candidate for the position of National Secretary for the Association.

POSITION TITLE: National Secretary
OPENING DATE: June 19th, 2017
CLOSING DATE: July 3rd, 2017
WORK HOURS: Full-time
BASIC FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Secretary shall carry out the following functions under guidance of the President:
1. Be responsible for the secretarial duties of the Association and coordinate the activities of
the Chapters and various Sections of the Association.
2. Take minutes of all minutes – EXCO, Council & AGMs
3. Ensures the proper day to day running of the Secretariat at all times.
4. Screens all incoming mails and takes appropriate action; receives all outgoing correspondence and other materials.
5. Maintains office filing system and prepares yearly reports for the Association
6. Organizing of annual conference/AGMs, national workshops, seminars, Trainings, etc as scheduled by the national body.
7. Develops a work schedule, draft routine correspondence based on the administrative policies, sets goals, creates /implement action plans and monitor progress towards goals.
8. In addition to providing secretarial services to the Association, the officer will be expected to provide support in the management areas of personnel, and general services.
9. Maintains a high level of accuracy and confidentiality
10. Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the President
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. Candidate must have a BLS. Possession of MLS will be an advantage.
2. Must be a Certified Librarian (CLN)
3. Must have at least 3 years post qualification experience
4. Must be ICT Compliant (Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point is required)
5. Must be a registered paid-up member of NLA (the last 3 consecutive years)
6. Must be a Nigerian
7. Must be fluent in written and spoken English
8. Must be creative, proactive and self- motivated.
9. Must be in good physical and mental health.
10. Should not be more than 30 years of age at the time of applying
